The Study Guide
The Study Guide contains all hyperlinked entries so that you can access all of the information easily. The Study Guide consists of the following elements:
- The Entry: This is the text of the Entry you are currently viewing. When you first access the Study Guide, you will see a list of categories before viewing your first Entry.
- Modes Selector: You have two options for visiting hyperlinks when using the Study Guide. The “Save Links for Later” option places hyperlinks you click on in the box on the right-hand side of the screen in the “Links I’d Like to See” box. This is the recommended mode for Study Guide use. The second option, “Visit Links Immediately,” will immediately load the Entry each time you click on a hyperlink. This mode is recommended for browsing only.
- “Links I’d Like to See”: This box will display the five most recent hyperlinks you selected when you are in the “Save Links for Later” mode (see Modes Selector). When you click on any of the links in the box, you will visit the corresponding entry immediately. Click on “Remove All Links” to clear out all of the hyperlinks in this box.
This box will save information from previous visits if you have created a Login and are currently signed in using the Login box on the left-hand side of the screen.
- “Visited Links”: This box will display the last five entries you have visited. You may click on any hyperlink to visit the entry again, or you may click on the “Remove All Visited Links” button to clear out all the hyperlinks in this box.
This box will save information from previous visits if you have created a Login and are currently signed in using the Login box on the left-hand side of the screen.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this Website for?
This website is for anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of American history and citizenship.
What are the advantages of creating a login?
Creating a login allows you to access information from previous visits, and save entries you would like to view at a later time. It also allows you to see how much of the Guide you have read, and track how many Entries you have to go before you’ve read the entire Guide.
I’ve created a login, but I can’t remember it/my password. How do I retrieve it?
If you cannot remember your user name and/or password, please click here to retrieve it.
The “Save Links for Later” is different from most websites I am used to, and it slows me down. Why should I use it?
We recommend you use the “Save Links for Later” mode so that you take the time to read carefully and understand the information within an Entry before navigating away from the page. Using the “Visit Links Immediately” mode is better suited for casual skimming of the Guide, or as a review tool to help you understand the many connections between people, documents, civic values, and time periods.
